Snowy Seattle Smorning......Part I

Yep, the most biggest snowstorm since 1969.
Hahahahahahaha!
That being said, it's still snowing at 1:36 pm, today, Wednesday, January 18, 2012.I went on a walk this morning since I was already up and dressed ready to go to work.
Work got canceled.
Wah-wah.
Cute Chinatown covered in snow.

Friday, January 6, 2012

Sorry.....they are just SO cute today!

I want to lay my head on them and use them for pillows.

I want to crawl into the middle, with a little napsack full of prosciutto and then eat myself a little nook where I can sit and read boring Russian novels by candlelight.

They smell so wonderful and warm and happy.

Have a nice day. ox#

Dia de Reyes-January 6th

Who likes tamales?!
I do!! I do!!
If you answered "I do!!" with exclamations, this is a holiday for you.
For those of us that had the "pleasure" of being brought up in the Catholic world, you will know this day, January 6th, to be the day of "The Epiphany".....Remember?
......This is when the 3 wiseman finally showed up to welcome the baby Jesus into the world?... ...Frankincense....Myrrh....Gold.....Camels....Star of wonder, Star of light?

Well, in some other parts of the world, namely Spanish speaking parts of the world, January 6 is called "Día de Reyes" ("Kings' Day").
This is the day when children traditionally get presents. The presents are from the Three Wise Men.
In Mexico, por ejemplo, before children go to bed, they leave their shoes outside filled with hay or dried grass for the animals the Wise Men ride, along with a note. The next morning, their shoes are filled with gifts from the 3 Kings.Q:What is this picture of? Why are you telling me this?
A:The picture is of this cake-bread stuff called: Rosca de Reyes. It's a special cake.

Inside the Rosca de Reyes, there is a trinket; a figurine of the baby Jesus.
Baby Jesus is baked into the cake!! Ha!
Whoever finds the baby Jesus in their piece of cake has to throw a party and provide tamales to the guests on February 2, Candlemas Day (Dia de la Candelaria).
It is a very suspenseful and silly eating of cake.

So....someone run to the nearest Mexican mercado, invite some friends over, drink some stuff, eat some food, and and look forward to tamales in February. I will be. oxx
