Bombolone!

Today, Bombolone stands for Bigggg Bomb!
Aside from getting out of bed every day (jajajajaja), this was one of the most least rewarding things that I have done lately!
I started out at 7AM, by getting out all of the necessary ingredients and putting them on the counter.
Then I enlisted some friends: St. Judas, the patron saint of difficult cases and COFFEE! :)
 First I made dough,

then I made Crema Pasticcera while the first rising of the dough was happening.

2 hours later the dough had doubled in size and was ready to be rolled out and cut into little circles
and then set to rise again, just like baby Jesus. Well, things went a little better for Jesus...
But! They were cute little babies.
After they were all cut into little circles, they got tucked away to rise for 2 more hours.
At this point I was still excited and was having fun. They were so cute!
So far the dough seemed great.
Dough done, ready to fry.....(Still having fun)

3rd time's a charm! After turning on 2 different burners, I finally got it right and the oil began to heat.
The first three turned out oooohhhkay, but not lovely.
Isn't that weird how they cooked? They look like they already had bites taken out of them!
I toyed around a bit and found that it worked better turning the heat low and leaving them alone and not flipping them over and over.

I left them to cook a bit and then flipped them over and let them cook a bit more.
If this was a picture, I mean video, you would see that they were dancing.
They even puffed up a bit more! (Still having fun by the way)
I had to taste a lot. It tasted good. (Fun)
I tried some with the unsettled Crema Pasticcera, just to make sure that the whole idea was good. (Real fun)
Aren't they cute?
Yes.
7 hours later, this is them, with my stupid Crema Pasticcera all runny because  I didn't have the patience to wait for it to fully set up, LOL-ing, AND I just wanted to see and taste what they were going to look and taste like!!
Oh, and I also needed a pastry tip so that I could fully shoot the P-Cream into those little buggers. Ziplock bag and runny Crema Pasticcera just don't get the job done.
Yeah.....so now I am starting to blame other stuff instead of me, which is even dorkier. But after 5 hours, I just wanted to be done!!! And it wasn't something that I could just leave and come back to, ya know? Ha ha on me :)
It was SO sunny and pretty out today, see?
I wanted to go out and play a little but had to finish what I started. Ahhhhhh!! 7 hours later......
All that being said, it was fun, and they turned out pretty cute, kind of tasty, and it was my first time trying them, so how can I expect them to turn out totally awesome? Well, I DO know how I can expect that, but that is a whole nother story a bottle of wine away. For godssake, I haven't even tasted them IRL! I don't even know if they really are good! I totally got sucked into them by their looks and their Italianism! Hmmmmm.....As I am typing, off in the distance I think I hear the cliche saying: Don't judge a book by it's cover and Patience is a virtue. Jajajajajajjaja!
Good thing life isn't "3 strikes and you're out" like it is here in Washington state. I would only have one left and that will probably be wrecked in the next hour when I go and do whatever it is that I do next. Hee hee.
Next time I am making bagels. I at least know that I LOVE bagels, and bagels love me.
oxx
